We know that there is no way to replace anyone who has passed away. But when my husband died, others found many ways to bring a smile to my kids. No matter what you hear in the world today, I have witnessed too many times to count that people are SO generous with their time, money, and thoughts. I am here to share with you that it does help- each and every kind of thing you do for others is appreciated! Thank you thank you thank you.
I have written down ideas that really brought happiness to our family when our world was turned upside-down. I have also included things I have heard you’ve done for others that are GOLD-STAR IDEAS!
€¢ MEMORY STUFFED ANIMALS You can buy a pattern on Etsy or have someone make one for you. You supply a shirt from the loved one who has passed and Wahlah you’ll see something like this… The first one is a set of a pillow and a teddy bear. Sweet and huggable when going to bed and missing their mom or dad is who makes this one! Super cute, Angie!
.
Memory pillow or blanket with pictures of a loved one. My neighbor did this for each of my 6 kids and me. It’s one of their favorite things still- even as they have grown older. I have had her do others for me as well because we loved it so much.
.
Create a blanket from the loved one’s clothing. This is a blanket I made from my husband’s levis. If the family is willing to give you some clothing items- you can create some awesome things for the kids.
.
Costco and other companies do blankets with pictures on it. They are about $40 and up. Upload the photos and it’s ready in less than 2 weeks.
.
My friends took my kids to do fun things like going to the park, ice skating, and to build-a-bear. Doing this took the kid’s mind off the hard stuff and gave me a break from trying to entertain. Sometimes I went with them and sometimes I stayed home and got other things done. Those couple of hours meant the world to me.
.
PICTURE of them with the loved one or a saying that would help lighten their life.
.
PERSONALIZED JEWELRY. I’m amazed at how creative people are! There are so many options on Etsy for jewelry in memory of a lost loved one. Here are a couple of my favs… From WOW!
