energy flows where attention goes | marcielyons.com

I was listening to Tony Robbins and he says, “Where focus goes, energy flows”. It’s true if I really think about it. So how do I change my energy so it goes where I want it? Some days I get stuck in the mundane and have a “just get through today” attitude. SO how do I get better at this? Tony has some great ideas…

1.Create a clear goal with purpose and meaning behind it.

From Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland when Alice is talking to the Cheshire Cat:

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don’t much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.
Alice: …So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you’re sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.

My suggestion is to get very clear on where you want to go. It can change along the way, but think about it today and proceed. I believe that when I am ready for my teacher, they will show up-so I start looking in all kinds of ways and am open to new ideas and perspectives to help me reach my goal. Take small steps to the goal each day.

Focus on the goal. If the goal is a super high priority I won’t find myself with downtime on social media- I will be looking at new ways to fulfill this goal or do small simple things to get me towards it. So put my energy toward the goal instead of nothing.

Put the goal first- so instead of reacting to things as they come up, I can have a plan and be PROACTIVE.

2. Focus on the positive

Develop an abundance mindset. I wasn’t raised in a family or culture that taught this so I am working on changing my beliefs around it and thinking, “there is plenty for everyone”. I always felt I was taking from someone else when I wanted more and I don’t want to do that. But the research shows there is always enough for everyone and I do not need to worry about that. It’s really going deep within and seeing what my deep beliefs are AND now seeing if I truly believe it anymore.

Focusing on the positive makes my energy go up and that will bring in people with equal energy to that – and those are the people and places I want to be around. HIGH positive, grateful energy. Tony suggests when meeting others, look for something you admire about them. It could be anyone on the street, in a yoga class, at a restaurant, etc. It’s looking for the good in others and it will bring more positivity to my life.

3. Think about the BIG picture

Each day if I have a goal I am trying to get to – or a place I want to be at personally, it changes my behavior each moment. I am not bored and looking for the next shiny object, I am slowly learning and growing into this new place. It has helped me to realize just changing a few thoughts a day – or even pondering why I thought that and being aware of my thoughts helps me to slowly and surely look at the big picture.

Tony says to do these things to help get me on my way…

EXERCISE
